Best way to catch Mewtwo if you don't have a Masterball

Forget about trying to put him to sleep. Mewtwo might still have a chance to wake up. The only sure fire way to catch him is to freeze him solid. To do that you take any Pokemon that knows "Blizzard." Note it may not work the first time, it may be the second or third time. It works well, take it from someone who has caught two Mewtwo's this way. Once Mewtwo is frozen there is no way that he'll unfreeze. Short when you take him to the poke-center. (Use a Pokemon like Articuno - I caught both using the same Pokemon. my Aritcuno "IceBeam.")


Skip The Game Corner

Game Corner blues getting you down? Can't quite get through and beat Giovanni? Here is a tip that will solve all your problems. First, once you've arrived at Lavender town, got left and take the path to Celedon City. Enter the department store, and buy a poke doll. Then go back to Lavender Town, and enter the Pokemon tower. Beat your rival, and all the channelers in your way, and go to the place where the big ghost stops you from proceeding. Once you're in the battle with him, use the poke doll, and the ghost will disappear, leaving you to pass without having to get the Silph Scope. This tip can help you get farther into the game faster than you normally could.


Silph Co. Tower walkthrough

The Silph Co. Tower can be very confusing, and down right frustrating after a while. Here's a little help... First, take the elevator to the fifth floor. Go to the left and there should be a scientist and, below him, a tunnel going south. Go down it, fight the Team Rocket guy, then go to the right and pick up the Card Key. Now, go into the elevator and go to the third floor. Go down the hall that goes south. There should be a Team Rocket guy, and to the left of him a locked door. Open the door with the Card Key, and step into the transporter (diamond-shaped floor tile thingie) You will be in a room where you have to fight your rival. Careful, he's tough! After beating him, talk to the other guy to get a Lapras, then instead of going into the next transporter go back the way you came and go to the ninth floor. Go down the hall to the left and unlock the door on the left. Talk to the lady in this room and all your Pokemon will be healed. Then go back to the third floor and go through the transporter again, then go through the other transporter in the room where your rival was. Go down, fight the last Team Rocket guy, unlock the door, and go into the room to fight Giovanni (The boss of Team Rocket). He has Ground Pokemon, so use Grass or Water types on him. After beating him, talk to the company president to get the Master Ball! You can go anywhere in Saffron City now, including Sabrina's gym.


Daycare tip

The number of experience points a Pokemon goes up in the Daycare is based on the number of steps you take from the time you leave a Pokemon to the time you pick it up. If you want to speed it up, just ride around using the Bike. Even if the Pokemon doesn't go up a level, you still have to pay $100.


Easy money

Every time you fight the Elite Four and Gary, you get a total of around $30,000. Just beat the game over and over and you can build up money very quickly. A easy way to do it is to get Mewtwo. Using Psychic, when fighting the Elite Four, he can knock out almost any Pokemon in one hit. Also, each time you use TM 16, Pay Day, on one of the Elite Four Pokemon you get $110. For example, if you use it seven times, you get an extra $770.


Easy way to catch Mewtwo

If you don't have a Master Ball, try this. First get a Pokemon that can put a Pokemon to sleep such as Haunter's hypnosis. Then throw a Ultra Ball at him. Get two just to be safe and you should be able to catch him.

Rules Go to Celadon City, and find the hotel were the guy say's that it is a "people hotel" go to the top right corner till you hit the wall. Then go down 2 steps and look up, then you press the A button and then there is a invisible PC. Now use it!


Easy way to get a Kangaskhan

This is a easy way to get a Kangaskhan. to get him, first talk to the guy in Viridian city that shows you how to catch a Pokemon, then fly to Cinnabar Island, surf to the right side of the island and surf up and down so it looks like your half way on land. then you find should find a Pokemon named MissingNo at level zero. then use a rare candy on it and it will evolve into Kangaskhan.


Get 99 Master Balls

Sent in by Xenomorph First go to the man in Viridian city that shows you how to catch a Weedle. Watch him and then arrange your list so that your Master Ball is the sixth item on your list. then Fly to Fuisha and surf to Seafoam Island. Don't get of the Pokemon. Surf so you are half on land and half on water. Keep surfing until you encounter Missingno (a glitch). Run or battle it but don't catch it. Once you beat it or run, Check your inventory and you will have 99 Master Balls.

There are some machines lined up near him. If you search in front of here (by pressing A) you will find 100 coins on the ground. Here is an easy way to catch Abra. First get a Pokemon that knows wrap. Then look for Abra in the grass by Nugget Bridge. Use wrap so Abra can't move. Get his power low, and throw a Poke ball.

Easy way to catch any Pokemon almost every time. Just use a Poke Ball and as soon as it says "(your name) used Poke Ball" hold B and Up. Keep holding until the Pokemon is wobbling inside the ball, after the second wobble, let go. If your timing's good the Pokemon will be caught no matter how healthy it was! This works on any Pokemon.

Skip Brock

To skip Brock, do this. Press start to get the menu. Put the arrow on Save. Press B. In Pewter City go to the guy who takes you to the door of the gym. Try to get the menu up just before you start walking. If you can press save and then turn off the game. Turn the game back on and then the guy will take you to the gym again accept this time instead of being just in front of you he will be a few steps diagonally from you. He will end up on top of the girl who talks about Clefairy's. After he leaves you will probably find out he's not where he usually is so go through the place where he was and continue on to Mount Moon. This code doesn't always work!


Win at the Rocket Game Center

At the Rocket Game Center if you have Chansey as the only one in your party, you will win at the slots. If Chansey is at level 50, you win 50% of the time. Level 60 wins 60% of the time and so on. If you have a level 100% Chansey, you will always win.


Rare Pokemon tip

If you encounter a rarer Pokemon in the safari zone, such as Tarus or Kangaskhan, do not throw a rock or bait or it will run.


Hidden rare candy

In Cerulean, go to the man's house that tells you about the different badges. In his backyard, use your Item Finder; there is a Rare Candy.

How to get Weedle in the blue version

Here's how to get Weedle in the blue version. Just go to Viridian Forest and fight the FIRST bug catcher and run around without fighting the others and you should find one.


How do you duplicate all of the items?

The first thing that you need to do is to put the item that you want duplicated in the 6th slot on your item menu (by pressing Select, then moving). Then go to the man in Viridian City that shows you how to catch a Weedle. Let him show you how to catch it. Then, fly down to Cinnabar Island. From there, surf on the left side of the coast by going up and down (you should look like you are surfing half on land). You should encounter a MissingNo, or a Mysterio. Run away from it then check your item, and you got a weird symbol followed by a 9 or other number. This is like 115 "items". If it doesn't work the first time, try it again.


How do you catch a Kangaskhan?

You need to get to what we all know and love as the Safari Zone. Here, you can catch all sorts of nifty rare Pokemon that can be found no where else! One of these is the elusive Kangaskhan-#115. This Pokemon can be found on both the Red and Blue paks, so don't be discouraged if you don't catch it at first. To get to the Safari Zone, you first need to be able to get to Fuschia City. The easiest way to get here is to go through Routes 21, 20, and 19 from Pallet to Fuschia. You will need a surfing Pokemon to effectively perform this feat. Once in Fuschia City, go to the North as far as you can. You will need a cutting Pokemon for this one. Cut the bush that is blocking your path, and then head north once again. You will see a building surrounded on all sides by trees. Enter this building. As you try to walk on through, a guy will stop you asking you for money so you can play the Safari game. Say yes, if you really want a Kangaskhan, and head on in. Immediately head north until you hit a fence, then head east until you come to a wall of trees. If a wild Pokemon attacks you while you are walking there, just run away. You will want to safe your Safari Balls for the Kangaskhan. Head north again. When you see an opening to another screen, go through it. From here, head east until you are walking in a grassy area, where Pokemon live. Begin walking around and eventually you will be attacked by something. If it is not a Kangaskhan, then run away. If it is, then start chucking Safari Balls at it. It will eventually either be caught or run away, if it runs away, just walk around some more. If you run out of time before you catch one, just head back to the same place and try again.


How to get Dratini

If you are having trouble finding (or winning) Dratini, go fishing in the Safari zone in Area I. And if you do hook it, just throw Safari Balls at it. This also works with other Safari Zone Pokemon.


Hint on trading Pokemon

Before trading Pokemon, make one game have a junky Pokemon and the other have a Pokemon you want to duplicate. Then go to trade center and trade the junky one and the good one. Then at the end of the trade after "waiting" and before "trade complete," turn the game that use to have the good Pokemon off. The other game will say trade complete. Then turn the other game off, then turn both back on. Both games should have the good Pokemon and the junky Pokemon should be gone.


Tip on beating the gyms

Here's a tip for beating the gyms easily, first before you go to the first gym, do a lot of fighting with the wild Pokemon get to level 10, then fight every trainer on your way to the second gym, after you defeat Misty, go to the cruise ship, get your beginning Pokemon up to level 36, by defeating all trainers on the ship.


Tip on fighting Lt. Surge

When Fighting Lt. Surge and his Electric type Pokemon, get cut first, then use it on the Pokemon. It usually kills them in one shot.


Increase the accuracy of any type of poke-ball

To increase the accuracy of any type of Poke Ball hit down and B when the ball leaves your hand.


Tip on raising levels

Raising the levels of Pokemon is easy if you know this trick. When you get to Viridian City (the next city after Pallet town) buy a few poke' balls and then go out through the mountain path to that grassy area. Let your Pokemon fight and raise his levels. Capture any Pokemon you want and raise their levels too. If you get hurt just go back to the town and go in the Poke Center. You'll get healed, and you'll have raised the levels. This works very well until the Pokemon get to level 10 then try the next method.


Tip on raising levels for low level Pokemon

After you have raised levels to about 10 and have gotten better Pokemon and gone though the game a bit, try this. If you want to raise a low level Pokemon quickly and also get ahead in the game, put the low level Pokemon first in line. Then when the first enemy comes out, you can switch Pokemon to a stronger Pokemon and get hurt a little then kill the enemy. You'll have gotten as many points for that one Pokemon switching out, as you did for the stronger one who beat it. If there is multiple enemies in a fight, you can switch Pokemon after you defeat one and another is coming with out getting damaged. Then repeat the switch to get more experience with little cost.


Get free Full Restores at Indigo Plataeu's mart/center

To get free Full Restores at Indigo Plataeu's mart/center go to the shop area, and choose the Full Restore. Set the quantity to 20, but even though it says $60000, when you choose yes you will get it all for FREE.


Get three TMs

On the top floor of the Celadon Dept. store there is a little girl who is thirsty... Go buy some soda, water, and lemonade, talk to her 3 times and give her one of the drinks each time. She will give you 3 TMs which are very useful and will save you a lot of time trying to make you Pokemon learn them by gaining levels.


Get sailor

In the Cinnabar Island research lab, in the third door to the right, and go talk to the guy to the right in that room. If you trade him a Ponyta, he will give you a Seel, knicknamed "sailor."


Cancel evaluation trick

If you cancel evaluation with most of the Pokemon that evolve by level, they learn moves quicker.


Tip on Pokemon that evolve with stones

Pokemon that evolve with stones never learn most moves that they would if they didn't evolve so early.


Way to find the key to get to Blain's gym

On Cinnabar island the way to find the key to get to Blain's Gym is enter the building. Go up the first flight of steps and there is a room above you and a gargoyle to the left of you go to the statue and press A it will say "A secret switch!" and then it will say: "Press it"?. Select yes and go to the room that is above you there should be stairs. Take them. You will see another statue, press the button. This lets you have access to a new room! There is a scientist in there but you will take him out after a few blows. He says "Why don't you start out over there at the bottom of the screen. There are two doorways, go in the one on the right and you will be in a room with two or three rows of plants, go to the stairs near them and they will take you to a huge room,. Go up and left until you see the last room and in there you will find the secret key. Then you go to this guy near a switch, press the switch and go to the stairs that lead to the room of plants. A door should have opened and you take another doorway and it exits you then you get to beat Blaine.


HM01 and HM02 locations (Red version)

HM01: You can find the cut ability in Cerulean City, go straight to the top of the city near the house the police man is standing by. Then you go up a pathway to the left and there should be 6 people up there that you need to fight, and then go to the left, about 4 steps from the last guy and then go straight up and when you are up there you should find the HM01. HM02: The flying ability Celadon City from the Pokemon center go straight to the left until you hit the giant mart. Go down 8 steps then go to your left. Go down that skinny road that road that you see. Then you should come across a plant that you need to cut. Go up to your left and then go to your left there will be one building. Go inside to the other side and there will be a house straight to your left. Then go inside the house and talk to the girl. Then she will give you HM02.


Turn an original Poke Ball into the master ball

You can turn an original Poke Ball into the all powerful master ball by following this steps: Get into a battle (not a trainer battle), make sure you have a good supply of Poke Balls, throw a Poke Ball, as soon as it says: "blank" used Poke Ball, hold the up button on the directional pad and B button. When the Pokemon is wobbling inside the ball, wait until the second wobble then release the buttons. If you did it correctly, the Pokemon will be caught at any level or strength!! Odds in this happening: 4 out of 5 times. NOTE: This only works with a regular Poke Ball! You can use great balls or ultra balls but the odds are very slim. Approx. 2 out of 5 times.


Ways to evolve Pokemon

There are three ways for Pokemon to evolve: 1. Level - Most Pokemon evolve when they reach a certain experience level. For example, Caterpie will evolve into Metapod, and then to Butterfree. 2. Item - Other Pokemon only evolve when a special stone is used on them. When a Thunder Stone is used on Pikachu, it evolves into Raichu. Fire, Water, Thunder, and Leaf Stones can be bought for 2100 at the Celadon Dept. Store 4F. Moon stones are much rarer and evolve special Pokemon (Clefairy, Jigglypuff). 3. Trade - Four Pokemon only evolve when they are traded. These Pokemon are: Kadabra ------ Alakazam Graveler ----- Golem Haunter ------ Gengar Machoke ------ Machamp Many evolved forms of Pokemon and some rare Pokemon can be found in the cave outside of Cerulean City. You can go there after becoming Pokemon League Champion. These Pokemon are: Hypno, Sandslash (blue), Arbok (red), Ditto, Chancey, Raichu (blue), Electabuzz (red), Electrode, Golbat, Venomoth, Kadabra, Rhydon, Dodrio, Wigglytuff, Seaking, Seadra, Slowbro, and Kingler. There might be more, but I forgot.


Trading Pokemon warning

You may think that if you got gamelink cable that you'll be able to trade your Pokemon with a friend and then trade them back so that you're Pokemon will gain boosted experience. Think again. Your Pokemon game pak will be able to recognize Pokemon that were originally caught on your pak, no matter how pak the Pokemon have been traded though.


Get all the starter Pokemon

It's possible to get all the starter Pokemon. To do this you need: 2 Linkable Game Boy systems, 2 Pokemon games, any colors, 1 Game Link Cable. What you will do is use one Game Boy as Pokemon storage and the other Game Boy will be used for capturing Pokemon. 1. Start a new game with Game Boy A. 2. Go to Prof. Oak's lab and get Squirtle. 3. Go to nearest Pokemon Center and trade Squirtle to Game Boy B. 4. Start a new game with Game Boy A. 5. Repeat 2 through 4. 6. Go to Prof. Oak's lab and get Charmander. 7. Go to nearest Pokemon Center and trade Charmander to Game Boy B. 8. Start a new game with Game Boy A. 9. Repeat 6 through 8. 10. Go to Prof. Oak's lab and get Bulbasaur. 11. Go to nearest Pokemon Center and trade Bulbasaur to Game Boy B. 12. Start a new game with Game Boy A. 13. Repeat 10. 14. There should be 2 Squirtles and 2 Charmanders on Game Boy B, so now trade one of each back to Game Boy A.


What to do with useless Pokemon

If you get a Pokemon that's completely useless when you first get it (like Kakuna, Magikarp, or Metapod), go to Cerulean City and go south to get to a guard station and a day care center. Leave one of the Pokemon there until it has gained a lot of levels or until it evolves. It will cost you money depending on how much experience the Pokemon gets while in the day care, but it's worth it to be able to actually hurt something with one of those useless Pokemon.


Eevee tip in Celedon City

In Celedon City, go behind the mansion and find the secret door. Once you're inside, go up the stairs and get the Poke Ball on the table. Inside the Poke Ball is an Eevee, which can be evolved into any of three types of Pokemon depending on which stone you use on it. A thunder stone will give you a Jolteon, a fire stone will give you a Flareon, and a water stone will give you a Vaporeon.


Struggle move

When a Pokemon has run out of pp's for all of it's moves, It will then use a move called "struggle". It's a move similar to "take-down" or "double-edge" only weaker.


Pokemon that you can only get from trainers

There are many trainers who you can trade with, but there are five certain ones where you get special Pokemon only from them. Location: Cerulean City, He will trade Jynx for Poliwhirl. Jynx is nicknamed "LOLA". Location: Vermilion City, He will trade Farfetch'd for Spearow. Farfetch'd is nicknamed "DUX". Location: Route 18, He will trade Lickitung for Slowbro. Lickitung is nicknamed "MARC". Location: Cinnabar Island, She will trade Tangela for Venonat. Tangela is nicknamed "CRINKLES". Location: Route 2, He will trade Mr. Mime for Abra. Mr. Mime is nicknamed "MARCEL".


Pokemon evolutions (Red version)

Level up: Paras, Squirtle, Charmander, Bulbasaur, Weedle, and Caterpie to name a few! Water Stone: Shellder, Poliwhirl, Eevee. Thunder stone: Pikachu, Eevee. Leaf Stone: Gloom, (Maybe) Weepinbell, Exeggcute. Fire Stone: Growlithe, Vulpix, Eevee. Moon Stone: Nidorino/na, Clefairy, Jigglypuff. Note: These are from the red version and are not complete!


Metapod and Kakuna tip

If you want a Metapod, or a Kakuna, that can attack, first you must capture a Caterpie, or Wwwdle, before level 7 (level 7 is when they evolve into Metapod/Kakuna) *Note: In doing this, you do not get Harden. Yet another note: They will only stay in Kakuna/Metapod for three levels, after that you get Butterfree/Beedril.


Moltres tip

Moltres is in the victory road cave on the third level from the entrance (bottom I think) and Mewtwo is in the cave outside of Cerulean that only Pokemon champs can enter. For catching him, weaken him and then put him to sleep this is the best way to catch him if you do not have the master ball.


Battle Pokemon from the Safari Zone

If you want to battle Pokemon from the Safari Zone, first go to the Safari Zone and pick the area with the rare Pokemon you would like to catch. Wait for time to run out. Exit the building and fly to Cinnabar Island. DON'T battle any other Pokemon. On the island, go to the east side. Use surf. Go up and down that side, and only that side of the island. Get to your rival

Element stones tip

Use the element stones that you can buy in the Celadon department store to make certain Pokemon evolve. eg: use the thunder stone on Pikachu to turn him into Raichu. When you use a stone it will tell you on the screen with which Pokemon you are carrying whether it is able to be used with each one or not. Moon stones also help evolve certain Pokemon (Jigglypuff, Clefairy, Nidorino, Nidorina, etc...) also, the element stones coincide with the type you want to evolve (water stone with water type, leaf stone with grass type etc...).


Fighting the the Elite 4

When you beat all 8 trainers you can battle the elite 4. First you go through the most complex tunnel. When your finally out you enter a Pokemon center and mart. Buy lots of revives and heals, you'll need it! You battle Lorelei, the first of the elite 4. She uses ice Pokemon. Next you battle Bruno. He uses rock and ground Pokemon. After him you battle Agatha. She has ghost Pokemon. And the last of the elite 4 is Lance, who has dragon Pokemon. So everyone thinks this is the end, not quite. You still have to battle your rival for the last time. If you beat him, Prof. Oak comes up and congratulates you, then punishes your rival for not thinking right. He also starts saying stuff about how you have a special bond with your Pokemon, that's what made them battle good, blah blah blah. He then enters you in the hall of fame. All of the Pokemon you had for battle (the 6 you carry around) will be featured, and you yourself will also be put on the hall of fame. Prof. Oak now rates your Pokedex. After that the credits roll. If you continue the game, you will start in pallet town, not the last place you saved. Also, if you go to the elite 4, they will want to battle again.

Note: Electrodes will always use self-destruct, it's easier to trade a Raichu for an Electrode at the Cinabar Islands.


Fire Pokemon location

Fire Pokemon are at home in the Cinabar Islands. Just go into the top left building, and you will be attacked by Ponytas, Vulpix (blue version), Growlithe (red version), Muk (blue), Grimer (blue), Weezing, and Koffing (red). Even if you don't want Pokemon, you have to enter to find the key for the gym.


Lot's o' Water Pokemon location

Lot's o' Water Pokemon in the Cinabar Island Caves! Swim out from Fuchsia City with Surf, and go to the first land (other than platforms) you come across. There should be a cave entrance. Before you enter, make sure you have escape ropes, it's a maze in there!


Safari Park tip

Safari Park is home to the rarest of all Pokemon! Here you will find Exegggcute, Rhyhorn, Kangaskahn, Nidorans(m and f) Doduo, Poliwag, and lots more. It's a bit harder to catch them though. First, throw bait, then throw a rock. If the Pokemon doesn't run away, throw a safari ball. Note: this does not always work. Don't worry about wasting safari balls, That's just about impossible with the limited time you have.


Traded and Released Pokemon tip

Here's a cool cheat: Traded or Released Pokemon still count as yours in the Pokedex! If you traded Spearow, the Pokedex will still have all the info on Spearow, so don't worry about recatching one. This will also work with game link cables! Trade the Pokemon with your friend, get the info, and then trade back!


When your first Pokemon evolve

When will your first Pokemon evolve? They usually evolve into Ivysaur, Wartortle, or Charmeleon at about level 16. The next time they evolve will be at around Level 36. They only evolve that much. After that it's just new moves

Safari Game and steps

There isn't really time in the Safari Game. Instead it's the number of steps you take. If you stand still time won't run, just like if one of your Pokemon is poisoned, it won't lose HP if you stand still. Just make sure you step along the right path and if you use this tip, you'll get to the end easily. It's easier if you use a bike.


Location of the Poke Flute

Whenever you get to the game corner, go to the bottom floor and there is a guy in the back. He is guarding a top secret room, get him to move and you can find the Silph scope witch allows you to identify ghost type Pokemon. then go to the Pokemon tower. The ghost making all the trouble is waiting for you on the 7th floor. On the same floor Mr. Fuji is there and if you save him from the ghost he will give you a Poke Flute. The Poke Flute can be used to awaken sleeping Pokemon, this is especially useful at route 11. This instrument works in and out of battle.
